ThriftBite Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 29, 2026
Last Updated: August 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ThriftBite collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when buyers and vendors use the ThriftBite website and mobile applications.

1. Information We Collect

Account and profile information. We may collect your name, email address, phone number, profile image, authentication identifiers, and account type.

Vendor information. Vendors may provide business details, store information, product and ThriftBag listings, operating hours, payout information, and related onboarding information.

Orders and transactions. We collect information needed to create, fulfill, support, and record orders, including purchased items, order status, pickup or delivery details, and transaction identifiers. Payment card information is processed by Stripe; ThriftBite does not store full payment card numbers.

Location and address information. If you choose to provide an address or allow location access, we use it to show nearby vendors, validate addresses, estimate delivery or distance, and support order fulfillment.

Device and usage information. We may process device type, operating system, IP address, application/browser information, push-notification identifiers, and app interactions for security, troubleshooting, service delivery, and fraud prevention.

Camera, photos, microphone, and speech. These capabilities are accessed only when you choose features that require them, such as taking or selecting a product/profile photo or using voice search.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide buyer and vendor accounts and authenticate users.
  • Display nearby stores and marketplace inventory.
  • Process physical-food purchases, vendor payouts, pickup, and delivery workflows.
  • Send OTP codes, transactional messages, order updates, and notifications you enable.
  • Provide support, prevent abuse and fraud, diagnose errors, and improve service reliability.
  • Provide optional AI-assisted vendor tools when a vendor intentionally uses those features.
  • Comply with applicable legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

3. External Service Providers

Depending on the feature used, ThriftBite may use the following service providers to deliver core functionality:

  • Apple for Sign in with Apple and Apple Push Notification service (APNs).
  • Google for Google Sign-In and mapping/address services.
  • Stripe for buyer payment processing and vendor payout/connect services.
  • DoorDash for supported delivery workflows.
  • Twilio for supported phone verification/OTP messaging.
  • OpenAI for optional vendor AI-assisted content or image generation.
  • Email delivery providers for OTP, account, support, and transactional email.

When a vendor intentionally uses an AI-assisted generation feature, the listing information or prompt submitted for that feature may be sent to OpenAI for processing. Do not include sensitive personal information in AI prompts.

4. Sharing Between Buyers and Vendors

We share the minimum order and fulfillment information reasonably required for a buyer and vendor to complete a transaction. Delivery information may also be shared with the delivery provider when delivery is selected.

5. Account Deletion and Privacy Choices

You can initiate deletion of your ThriftBite account directly inside the app from the account/profile menu by selecting Delete Account. Account deletion removes your ThriftBite account and associated personal account data, subject to records we are required to retain for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute, or compliance purposes.

For access, correction, privacy, or deletion questions, contact privacy@thriftbite.com. For general support, contact support@thriftbite.com.

You may disable optional permissions such as location, camera, microphone, photos, speech recognition, or notifications in your device settings. You may opt out of non-transactional promotional communications using the available unsubscribe or preference controls.

6. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service and meet legitimate operational, security, dispute-resolution, legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and applicable law.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. Children

ThriftBite is a marketplace for purchasing and selling food and is not directed to children under 13.

9. Regional Availability

Features, vendors, delivery coverage, and payment availability may vary by region. The marketplace is currently designed primarily for United States operations.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. The updated date shown above identifies the current version.
